What is web hosting, and what should you actually pay?
Hosting is renting space for your website to live. Here is what it should actually cost.
Moving hosts means copying your website files and database to the new host, testing it there, then pointing your domain at the new server. The two things that most often go wrong are business email breaking and old page addresses not redirecting. Both are avoidable with a checklist.
If your business email came with your hosting, moving hosts can stop your email working. This is the single most common problem in a hosting move and it is often discovered after the fact.
Done properly, no. The site runs on the old host until the domain is switched, and the new copy is already tested and waiting. Any downtime is usually minutes, not hours.
Usually minutes to a few hours, occasionally up to a day for all networks to update. During that window some visitors see the old server and some the new, which is why you keep both running.
Not if the addresses stay the same and the site is not down. Moving host does not change your URLs, so there is normally no ranking effect.
Not in the same way — those include hosting and cannot be moved elsewhere. Leaving them means rebuilding, though you can export some content.
